Project No-Flight Update
April 2006

The car is off for paint. While it is out of the garage I've been working on more of the carbon fiber interior panels. So far I haven't made too much progress. It's taken a couple weeks just to get the carbon floor panels to come out reasonably well. Here is a picture of the underside (ground side) of the floor panels. Once there in not many people over 4 inches tall will be able to see them but I still wanted them shiney. I ended up having to put on an extra coat of epoxy, sand it flat, then finish with poleyster clearcoat to get a finish flat enough and hard enough to look good. The upper side (interior) of the floors are going to get a 3-M mylar film over them to protect them from shoe scuffs.

I just received some in-progress pictures this week from the paint shop to put up. The car is being painted by Charlie Herbert at Autobody Dimensions (301-670-6343) in his Frederick shop.

The car has had the body cracks finished and the remaining pop-rivets from the prior owneres front end installations removed. The car was sealed with poylester primer and blocked.

After a second coat of polyester filer/sealer.

In primer ready for paint.

IT's WHITE!  After the while is color sanded and buffed they will paint the red stinger stripe.  Also, the doors still need some final adjustment, it's a pain to get to the hinge bolts since the roll cage tubes are in the way.

And finally completed with the red Stinger stripe. They painted the front scoop block off plate red, but I will eventually black it out along with the air block panels behind the grill.
