Project No-Flight - The Beginning
February 2001
The rolling chassis is stock from the rear frame kickups forward, with the factory A-arm front independent suspension. The rear portion has been replaced with a racing round tube frame chassis - complete with driver roll cage (funny car style). This will have to be converted to a somewhat more conventional 2 passenger seating area. The front has already been modified with a rack and pinion steering.
It's a cozy garage filled with corvettes. That's Juliet's 1970 snuggled in next to Greg's 65.

These photographs are the ones the prior owner took before the purchase.

The big black hood scoop is just sitting there - though the car does have another smaller modified and even UGLIER hood scoop beneath it. Anyone interested in a new hood scoop? This big black one is for sale. <g> (Webmaster's note: We need the garage space!)

This is the view through the rear 'window'. It has a Dana 60 rear, currently with w 5.38 gear and a spool. It has Mark Williams full race rear axles. The spool will need to removed and replaced with a locker before it will be 'streetable.'

OK, you'll have to use your imagination here - the first picture is the dashboard. <g> The original factory VIN tag and trim tag, still attached to the original framing structure will be welded back into their stock place. The car did come with a dash frame structure. (Seen in the lousy picture from the $30 Kmart digital camera.) It's just taped to the front suspension for transport. The radio cutout is original - as evidenced by the antennae hole in the rear of the body. At the moment, Fred Flintstone brakes are all she wrote. There's no floor, however there is a seat for sitting in and making Varooooom sounds. It will be about three years before this project is on the road!

Just a few more miscellaneous photos - a side shot, the fuel cell in the rear, and a forward shot of the front suspension. The rear fuel cell has been removed for a larger fuel cell. Five gallons might make it down the 1/4 mile, but the plans for this car are so much bigger than that!
